Life is a journey. We have pasts and futures, and we live the middle, remembering back and dreaming forward. Jesus calls us to follow, and in so doing He meets us where we are (no matter what our past) and invites us into a future with Him. In short, Jesus is directing us on a journey.
We have chosen the name Journey Christian Church to remind us and inspire us as we move ahead. There is a lot that we need to keep in mind as we are on our Journeys, and in a recent sermon I pulled out a few truths about the journey that we are invited into by God.
- Our journeys are lived within a huge and wonderful story that God Himself is writing.
- Our journeys have a clear destination – Jesus.
- Our journeys must have purposeful movement and change.
- We are totally dependent upon God to provide for our journeys.
- We highly value scripture as our guide for the journey.
- We love the scenic overlooks along the journey.
- We intentionally pour into the lives of children and youth because they are so vulnerable to journey decisions.
- It is our calling and joy to pick up other travelers to join us on the journey.
- It is vitally important that we have traveling companions on the journey.
